This week, I’ll be marking the last 7 days of our month-long stay in Buenos Aires by immersing myself in the world of Tango.

As anyone who’s visited these parts will know, Tango is so much more than an aggressively orange face-slapping fizzy drink, more even than the much-parodied dance you’ll have seen performed by rose-stem-mouthed romantics in the movies. Here, Tango is quite simply a way of life.

This week, all being well, I’ll take in a show, try my two left feet at some dancing, visit a local Melonga club, and explore the history of tango through its music, movies, and most famous leading man – and possibly the biggest superstar you’ve never heard of – Carlos Gardel.
